Medicare Part C is commonly referred
to as Medicare Advantage.
Medicare Advantage plans include
Medicare HMOs, Medicare PPOs, and Medicare Private Fee-for-Service plans.
Medicare Advantage plans are administered
by private companies and not the government-run Medicare program.
You will still be in the Medicare
program.
You will still have Medicare rights
and protections.
Medicare Advantage policies usually
have co-pays, coinsurance, and maximum out-of-pocket amounts.
In general, you must go to a doctor
or hospital that accepts payment from the insurance company that is administering
your Medicare Advantage policy.
Solutions Insurance encourages you to explore the following items when shopping
for a Medicare Advantage policy:
Will your doctor accept payment from
the plan you are considering? If the premium for the product you
are considering is $0 or close to that amount, you should carefully consider the policy's maximum out of pocket amount. Some policies have very high maximum out of pocket
maximums.
If you do select a plan that has
a low premium and a high maximum out-of-pocket amount, could your finances sustain
that amount year after year if you experienced catastrophic events?
